After reading fashion and lingerie guides/blogs for so so many years, I feel like I have a pretty good understanding of the items that “every woman needs in her wardrobe’. But honestly, when it comes to shopping for lingerie basics, it’s always been a bit of a slog. There such a different between ‘basic’ or ‘classic’ items. Sometimes you just finding yourself running around in circles trying to work out what the ‘best’ soft cup bra, comfy undies or tights are exactly?

As there are still some pieces which I noticed were definite deals to be had from some of my personal favourites, we’ve popped together our lacy picks for under $40! I have a few tricks up my sleeve when it comes to purchasing quality pieces from top brands without the crazy price tag, if you’d like to learn more stay tuned over the next few weeks.
So you have underarm breast tissue a little too much side boob perhaps? Breasts come in many shapes and sizes and as you are probably aware if you are experiencing this issue, they do not sit perkily and centred on a majority of people. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, it’s experienced by so many women regardless of weight or age. Did you know the most photoshopped area of the female body is underarm breast tissue. You’re not alone. Even celebrities AND models have been known to have it. Although there is no quick fix or easy solution to making this disappear completely, there are some ways to reduce the appearance of UBT. And of course, if you’re okay with it, rock it! If you’re happy with it, that’s fine this is just a little something for those girls out there who aren’t as happy rocking UBT.
Miss Crofton is, for those who have been following along for a while now, a brand I’ve loved from it’s dawn. Well not quite that far back, but it was a case of coupe de foudre! Lingerie, like the first move in a romance should be flirtatious, charming, expressive, and avoid cliché – and the handmade pieces of Miss Crofton are impeccably right. Run by Georgia Campbell, Miss Crofton’s designs are not only of high quality, completely handmade and so darn gorgeous but also affordable. The piece we’re crushing on today is this lacy piece. This dainty bra comes in a soft cream colour that will look elegant against any skin tone. Feminine and fanciful, this will be an ever so pretty addition to your lingerie drawer.
What’s the best part about this time of year? Halloween. But also Elle McPherson and Stella having their massive end of season sales. Their sales are usually held around September after the other sales have just wound up (so make sure to set a little aside, because they’re always worth it. I’m talking reductions down to $15). Although now it is much past September (and so close to halloween!), there are still a number of items by Elle and Stella you can pick up for very very cheap! As well as my Elle and Stella affair, I’m also a big lover of lace and hater of the feeling of picking up a gorgeous lacy piece and realizing that it’s the same price as your rent… isn’t it actually the most disappointing thing? My general shopping philosophy is that I try to purchase meaningful pieces that are the best quality that I can afford (meaning not spending this months rent on a set and having to eat lentils for a month). I also try my best to buy from companies which I support as well as giving back to smaller brands (they need your help to guys!). Elle McPherson and Stella McCartney are two of my absolute favourites who I support throughout because of their high quality pieces, design and they truly last the test of time.

Andrée Ciccarelli has my whole-hearted vote! Not only is the lingerie itself ridiculously comfortable, but Andrée is the sweetest and most savvy business owner who has brought her line to the highest level of quality. I had the pleasure of working with her in the NYC Lingerie Fashion week runway show this past October and saw the brand in action! The Lingerie Guide How The High-Cut Stole Our Hearts December 15, 2015 There was a forgettable period of recent style that dropped waistlines to perilously low depths. Thongs and teeny strips of fabric were developed to make sure that while a butt crack may show, panty lines stayed hidden. If you were anything like me, even the vintage appeal of a high-waist was lost on those of a certain age, and any underwear that crept over the hips was deemed a “granny panty.” For whatever reason, the muffin top effect that these low briefs contributed to was more appealing than a higher cut. Thank god we all came to our senses. Now, I’m not saying that skimpy underthings certainly don’t have their place, but a high-cut bottom can be the most comfortable option for all different body types. I find that in a tighter dress that I don’t want to wear a slimming garment under, a higher cut brief tends to hold in those love handles a bit more, kind of creating a reverse muffin top effect. There is basically no body type that won’t be enhanced by a waist-defining and hip-minimizing cut. Going even further, some lines of slimming garments like Spanx and D’Mondaine have created their own high-waist panties, which is a great way to streamline curves under a pair of pants or in a tight garment. Not to mention, these days vintage styles are all the rage, and there is nothing that better suits a high-waist pant then a high-cut brief. Many brands established and new are coming up with creative ways to raise underwear waistlines, making sure there is a piece available within everyone’s budget and style. While typical granny panties were boring giant pieces of cloth, the modern high-cut brief comes in a range of styles that are perfect for any situation.

I got to experience this last year, when my friend called me in New York from her wedding venue in California absolutely freaking out because she forgot to buy lingerie. Now, I love pretty things and especially love buying them, but lingerie can be incredibly personal, especially when all I can think about is my best friends, well, using it. But of course I agreed, and then started to freak out. Luckily, the whole experience gave me some great insight on what to consider when buying wedding night goodies. BHLDN STARLET ROBE – $280 First of all, I had to think about my friend, and what her style is. Knowing that she liked simple styles but interesting cuts (and worked in fashion) helped me focus away from the complicated wedding night ensembles that are available. Instead, I opted for a simple sheer white chemise to give her something special, and focused on white bra and panty sets to spice up the look. Of course, that was the hard part! I know what I like in a bra, and luckily we are around the same size, so I tried on about 10 different options in a range of styles, including a few I wasn’t sure about. Of course, once I put them on, the ones I was least sure about ended up looking gorgeous, and it was easy to know which was the right one for my friend.

I really like the idea of this dress. I have curves 34DD/36D-29waist-38hip i ordered a large & it fits good but if somone is a bigger than me it it wouldnt fit them. It is a tad snug in the bust area but not uncomfortable i can still move around & move my arms. I will warn you the dress is short so i plan to wear some yoga shorts underneath of it so that i dont give anyone a free preview of my vickies secrets :) Of course you guys know that the top is sheer/lace so i plan to wear a very full coverage black bra (grandma bra) so that i dont have any nip-slips . I would recommend that you do the same depending on which color dress you ordered. I absoloutely love this dress i bought it for my boyfriends bday celebration to wear to a concert lets hope its as functional on as it is cute& sexy :) either way i love it & i would definitely recommend this dress :) The only reason i didnt give it 5 stars is because i havent tested out the functionality of it yet (u know like moving around /dancing /sitting)

I own several babydoll pieces of lingerie and many are from the brand Jezebel. Most lingerie I buy from Jezebel is not a let down and this piece is no exception. I own it in both black and red in a size small. I’m 5'4 with a small frame and 32D bust. This babydoll fits me perfectly, covers my bum and hits at the top of my thighs. The bra portion is comfortable enough to sleep in and does not dig into you while still giving you a nice lift (though it does not have any push up padding or anything). The back of the babydoll is fly away and very attractive. The panties do run a bit small but I do have a fuller bottom. The details of the babydoll; the pattern/texture are much prettier in person. This dress caught my eye so I decided to take a chance and buy it. I wasn’t sure what size to buy because you never know with online shopping so I just bought the same size as the model and it fits perfectly! I’m impressed with the quality of the dress and it looks great. This dress is very versatile so you can definitely get a lot of use out of it. I wish it came in other colors. I will say there is hardly any stretch so this dress can be unforgiving in that regard. I really love the floral pattern on this blouse. However, the top is a bit short. I’m 5 ft 6 in and I ordered the extra small. The top fits fine, but is very short on the sides, so much so that about 1-2 inches of skin shows between the bottom of the shirt and top of my pants, even when not wearing low-riding pants.
