“A lot of designers present sketches that they have in mind for a particular person and say, ‘We’d love to dress her; can you give us some input on what works for her?’ While ultimately it’s their design, I get to be that middle person who helps get the dress to the point of being everything the actress wants and I envisioned. My greatest hit? At last year’s Globes, it was Emma [Stone] in the Lanvin jumpsuit. You want them to wear something that feels different, to have a fashion moment, but also to feel good and special. That really encompassed it. It felt really fresh and modern, and it worked.”
